  • Organized Hōlualoa community scoping since 2017 (especially including nearby owners/occupants along the highway & Holualoa Elementary School) - 2017-2020

  • Organized a community petition with over 200 signatures in support of Phase 1 - 2018

  • Counted how many cars pass through Hōlualoa School during school drop off and pick up - 2018

  • Developed a vision the community is comfortable with. 2017- Present
    (Note: Parking issue is still unresolved with changes in 2021 when the village lost an opportunity for a County acquisition. This remains an ongoing community scoping project.)

  • Organized community meeting & collaborated with our County - 2018

  • Presented Phase 1 to the County with Neil Asevedo as lead - 2018

  • Phase 1 after engineer approvals to begin changes - 2019

  • Moved crosswalks to safer positions - 2019

  • Shaved back rocks to create shoulder for walking. - 2019

  • Created safer walking shoulders and better signage with flashing lights within the Hōlualoa Elementary School zone. - 2021

  • After picking up Phase 2 post COVID, held multiple community Zoom sessions (9/22/22) re raised crosswalks, extend walking shoulders, parking issue, etc. - 2022

  • Currently, waiting for DPW to repave and restripe the village section of the highway - 2024
