Mamalahoa Kona Heritage Walking Tour

THIS PAGE IS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING NEW AND REVISED CONTENT.

WE ARE ACTIVELY RAISING FUNDS.

Please consider donating today and becoming a
volunteer with us or sharing your family stories from the Moku of Kona.

Our following project goals and fundraising efforts are to edit and revitalize our old damaged historical signs in Hōlualoa Village to create a walking tour experience and showcase what can be done along the Historic Scenic Byway and other small villages in South Kona.

Please visit our sign project to understand our future goals for storytelling and walking tour experience. We want to make this available so our educators, families, and visitors can access backyard stories from our community elders.

Right now, your contribution will help build our efforts for data collecting, editing (images, videos, and voice recordings), creating weather-tolerant signage, proper data storage for archives, data entry, and web design support to create a cohesive experience.

This building was the Post Office between about 1917 and 1961 (when the current PO location opened). This building was originally across the street until it was moved here in 1937. Before 1917, the Holualoa PO was located at the Telephone Central Office, south of the School.
